“Paraules de llum”: between poetry and painting with Mercè Claramunt and Juan Olivares

December 11, 2025

Exploring resonances between light and words

As part of the SELTZ TALKS program, we are delighted to invite you to a very special event within the framework of the current exhibition “Un pam de llum” by the artist Juan Olivares.

The poet Mercè Claramunt will engage with the artist about the exhibition, creating a lively exchange between words and images that explores the connections, echoes, and undertones that painting awakens in poetry.

During the conversation, Mercè Claramunt will present a poetry recital with a selection of poems chosen to accompany the works of the exhibition, creating a sensory journey where voice and pictorial light intertwine.

We look forward to welcoming you to experience an encounter where gaze and word intersect, opening new ways of understanding what we see.

Mercè Claramunt (Puçol, Valencia) is a poet and short story writer, awarded the Critics’ Prize of the Valencian Writers for “Insomne vida sonora” (2018) and the Maria Beneyto – Ciudad de València Prize for “Una nit sense vent” (2020), a work translated into several languages.

Her voice has been featured in anthologies such as “Màtria”, “Elles”, and “Solc de paraules”, and she has performed at poetry festivals in Menorca, Ibiza, and Genoa. Her poems have been translated into more than six languages.

Juan Olivares (Catarroja, Valencia) has developed a career marked by key residencies, such as at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, which have fostered his pictorial research centered on process as a territory of discovery.

With nearly thirty years of practice, more than twenty-five solo exhibitions, and presence in fairs and reference collections, his work has established itself as a singular voice within contemporary Spanish art.
