Monsters for Animals at SELTZ

Art for those who have no voice

More than 5,000 works distributed altruistically over a decade of solidarity through art in support of animals.

On September 5, Barcelona contemporary art gallery SELTZ by Ritter Ferrer will host the new edition of Monsters for Animals, a solidarity initiative led by Rafael Doctor and Beatriz González that will make a wide selection of original artworks available to the public at accessible prices, ranging from €50 to €200, with one very specific goal: to raise funds for Santuario Gaia, one of Spain’s leading sanctuaries for the rescue and care of animals coming from situations of abandonment, exploitation, or abuse.

Santuario Gaia: rescue, care and raising awareness

Santuario Gaia, located in Camprodon (Girona), has established itself as one of Spain’s most recognised animal rescue and protection projects. Since its creation, it has given a second chance to hundreds of animals rescued from situations of exploitation, abandonment, or abuse, providing them with veterinary care, specialised attention, and a home where they can live with dignity. Alongside this daily work of protection, the sanctuary carries out an extensive programme of education and awareness-raising aimed at fostering a more respectful and empathetic relationship with animals and the natural environment.

Monsters for Animals: art and activism

Founded more than a decade ago, Monsters for Animals is a project of cultural activism and solidarity in support of animals created by Rafael Doctor. Through artistic interventions made on photographic images and thanks to the collaboration of numerous contemporary artists, the project has built a committed community around art and animal advocacy.

The event taking place in Barcelona on September 5 continues this journey. During a day open to everyone, visitors will be able to purchase unique works created by Rafael Doctor and Beatriz González, knowing that every euro raised will directly contribute to the ongoing support of Santuario Gaia and the wellbeing of the animals who live there.
